Question: Why is air conditioner running but not cooling?

This is usually due to the unit being out of refrigerant. Sometimes all that is needed is the freon refilled, but more often than not there is a reason the unit has lost it’s freon in the first place (usually a leak). This can be anything from a refrigerant leak in a hose can cause the issue to a crack in the unit. Air conditioning heat pumps are exposed to a lot of weather changes and as such experience wear and tear just like any other machine exposed to the elements, which is all the more reason to keep your machine in good working condition with regular maintenance.

Question: Is routine maintenance really necessary on an air conditioner?

Routine maintenance can not only help the cooling system last longer but also run more efficiently as well. The unit has to work harder when it’s neglected and it’s not uncommon for serious problems to occur when they are left unchecked for an extended amount of time.
